" Xavi Criticises FC Barcelona Attack, Says Points Lead ‘Not Unconquerable’ For Real Madrid "

Spanish football legend Xavi has criticised Barcelona’s attack following their 5-1 win over Las Palmas on Sunday, saying that points lead “not unconquerable” for Madrid. Speaking to Spanish newspaper AS, Xavi said that Barca’s recent performances have shown a lack of organisation in defence and that the attack is too individualistic. He added that Real Madrid are still the team to beat, despite their recent slump. The Barcelona midfielder’s comments come after Los Blancos were beaten 3-1 by Atletico Madrid at the weekend, their third loss in as many La Liga games. Xavi was a key member of Barcelona’s La Liga and Champions League successes in the late 1990s and early 2000s, winning four Champions League titles with the club and two Spanish La Liga titles. He retired from international football at the end of last year.

In an interview with EFE, Barcelona midfielder Xavi spoke about the recent attack on the team and how points in La Liga lead “not unconquerable” for Real Madrid.

Xavi said: “The most important thing is that we are all well. We have to remain united and think positively. Points in La Liga are not unconquerable.”

Xavi has criticised Barcelona’s attacking display during their 3-1 loss to Valencia on Saturday, claiming that the points lead at the top of La Liga is not unconquerable for Real Madrid.

Speaking after the game, Xavi said: “The lead is not unbeatable, but it feels like it at times. We have to be careful and take things one game at a time. I think we should have scored more goals. Against Valencia, we created chances but didn’t take them.”

In contrast, Xabi Alonso insisted that Barca are still in control of their own destiny despite their recent setbacks, telling reporters: “We were unlucky with the result against Valencia and losing Neymar would have made a big difference. We know what we can do and we are going to fight until the end. First and foremost, our target is to win La Liga and then try to win the Champions League.”

Xavi spoke out after FC Barcelona’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on Sunday, criticising their play and saying that points lead “not unconquerable” for the defending champions.

In an interview with Spanish television network Antena 3, Xavi said that he had been very disappointed with how the team had played against Madrid. “We were not good enough and I think we paid for it because they scored three goals,” he lamented.

Xavi added that points are not always the most important thing in football and that Madrid have shown this season that they can be beaten if they are not playing to their best. “Real Madrid have shown this year that they can be defeated by other teams if they do not play at their best – FC Barcelona has shown it too,” he said.

Despite his concerns, Xavi still believes that Barcelona are a better team than Real Madrid and is confident of winning another Champions League title in the future. “I believe we are a better team than them and I am confident we will win another Champions League title in the future,” he said.

Xavi: Barcelona Must Keep Winning to Win La Liga Title

Xavi has criticised Barcelona’s attacking play in their 2-2 draw with Valencia, stating that points are more important than titles. The midfielder said that the title lead is not unconquerable for Real Madrid, and that he is happy to see such a close race between the sides.

“We wanted to win tonight, but it’s a game of football and Valencia defended well. We needed to score first and we couldn’t do that,” he told reporters after the game. “Points are more important than titles at this stage of the season, so we’re happy to be in this position. It’s very close between Madrid and Barcelona.”

Barcelona must continue winning if they want to secure their sixth La Liga title in seven years, but Xavi is confident his side can achieve their goal. “It will be difficult but I know we can do it,” he added. “This team has always been capable of winning titles and we’ll give our all until the end.”

Xavi:

Xavi criticised FC Barcelona’s attack after they were held to a 0-0 draw at Real Madrid on Saturday, saying their lead in La Liga is not an unconquerable advantage.

“The problem with this Barcelona side is that they don’t really know how to create chances,” Xavi told reporters. “They’re very good at keeping the ball but they’re not so effective when it comes to creating chances.”

He added: “They’ve got a lot of points and they’re leading the league, but if you analyse the table, there are teams close behind them who can catch up if they don’t play well.”

FC Barcelona have won all six of their matches against Real Madrid since 2007.
